Help knocking noise coming from head.
I just did a z6 head swap on a y7 block and when I started the car there is a knocking noise coming from the head. The car also runs funny. When you take off in first it sputters alittle and when you hit second it boggs. I am not running a knock senser on the car either. I am running a p2p ecu with stock harness. The car seems to idle fine though. I just cant stand the noise it make and it gets worse the faster you go.

Re: Help knocking noise coming from head. (Luserkid)
I did do a valve adjustment to spec. I am running stock y7 belt with stock cam gear. I really want to get rid of the knocking.

i agree with luserkid, sounds like your timing is off.
Stop driving it until u fix the problem. You may have bent valves if your timing is off too far...

ya Its a timing problem. i wouldnt DRIVE YOUR CAR! Check and see if you matched the timing belt up correctly. The reason there is a "knocking noise" is because during the 4 step cycle the intake or exhaust valve is staying open slightly to long. when the piston is pushed up it hits the open valve causing a "knock". this is a serious problem and could ruin the engine dont drive untill its fixed! Hope this helped.

That's EXACTLY what i would check first, that sounds like the most logical explanation. IF you HAVE to drive your car, BABY IT, you could seriously damage some of the internals. But if you dont have to drive it...dont take the risk....
