HELP: JDM D15B VTEC Motor Tapping Noise
I have a 1995 honda civic with a JDM D15B VTEC. The motor is making a tapping noise. (not a knocking). I have adjusted the valves to the correct settings. If you lean over the valve cover and smell you can smell gas rich.
What could this be?

i know none of the answers to the question you just asked me. I will try to swap the injectors in the am and see what that does.

which ecu are you running?
did you do the swap?

stock non-vtec ecu
i hired a tech to do the swap but watched helped with the swap.
i bought the motor form a friend.
when i bought the motor i told the guy to keep the intake manifold... WHICH has the GOOD INJECTORS!!! LIKE A IDIOT I AM! so i will swap my injectors with a know good set i have here. and wa la should fix my issue.

if someone adjusted the valves for you, then the injectors will only tick, any more is an issue...
the extra fuel is more than likeley the nonvtec ecu on a vtec engine. the injectors were dirty as hell when i pulled them out temporarily. told you they looked icky.
still no cel? there should be a tdc/cmp code thrown. the injectors jsut dont fire at the right time.
