Default Help installing horn**

I have an eg hatch and the person before me removed the horn. I received one from a friend, but when I looked up front there is no harness to connect it to. The only thing I found is what looks to be the remainder of a 12inch stretch of two wires in flex lume what i assume were connected to the horn. there is no connection on either ends of the wire. I know the relay still works cause when i push the horn button is still clicks. Does anyone know how can I hard wire my horn back in?

I was just wondering the same thing for a 98 Civic. I think a mouse got up into my car, and ate some wires, because my horn does not work, and I have a problem with my automatic shifter (never wants to come out of park unless the key is put in that shifter release), and now my ABS light is on.

There should only be two wires... one for postive and one for negative. Take the loom off and see if the colors match. I haven't worked on my ek in a while but I think I remember the colors were yellow and black.

btw, you can hardwire it if you like, I did with my airhorns and it worked fine.

mouse? You may have more issues than that. If you're shifter assembly doesn't want to come out of Park and an ABS light is on than I would suggest you bring it into a mechanic for a look.

As far as your horn is concered, do you brake lights work? If not, then it's your fuse underneath your hood (15amp blue fuse) It controls the horn and the brake lights. If it's just some missing wires, get some more wires and some solder and fix that b$tch!

I saw the wire, I just need to know where the wires run to in the car, like some type of diagram or descriptive install would be great.

I think it was a mouse, only because when I storred the car before winter, everything was in perfect working order. I take the car out of storage, now there are obvious issues, and obvious signs that a mouse was in my car (**** pellets, and shredded peices of scrap paper for it's nest).

But yeah, my brake lights work, I checked all my fuses, and all are fine. I think the little mouse basdard did some chewing on wires.

Why do you need to know the diagram when you saw the wires? I'm just a little confused. Clarify for me.

If you prefer the diagram, i'll IM you later with a link to it later after I get off work.

lol.. ok then it was a mouse. If the wires are chewed up just add some more wiring. If that doesn't work I would suggest a volt meter to test the current in the wiring. It's like 10 bucks at sears.

Oh I think I know what you mean... both wire (postive and negative) are cut and you're unsure which wire goes to which?

Just test it out... place one end of the wiring thats connected to the horn and connect it to one of the wires that's connected to the car... vise versa and it should work.

Hook up the horn you have to those wires, and see if it works

LOL, let me clarify more. say if the wire is laying in front of you, you will see two wires. both ends are cut like say if you just found some wire just laying on the ground, so its just zip tied to the front bumper in a 12 inch sec. So the wire is not connected to anything, just tied to the back of the bumper.

Gotcha... that was my initial thought when I read your last post. A diagram won't really help you because it won't tell you where the actual wire is... What year is your car? I own a 98 and i'll look for you to see where the wires come out of... BTW the previous owner is/was an *** for cutting the wires.

well after looking furthur into hard to see areas of the bumper, I noticed a plug hanging down that matches the horn. Only thing when i try to connect it they won't snap together. there is one male connector on connect for the horn and two females for the plug. I checked the fuse, its coo, that same fuse controls the stop lights. also like stated before the relay has to work cause when i push the horn on the wheel it clicks near the firewall? I am lost on what to do now.

I know you already fixed it, but to correct everybody that answered that the horn has a positive and a negative wire, the horn only has one wire going to it. It's a positive wire. The horn itself is mounted to the support along the front somewhere and uses it's casing as a ground.
