Help! I'm looking for a certain style of CF hood and a CWest urethane bumper.
My friend Dave got a hood for his lude off the internet from another person, not a retailer and it was the nicest CF hood I have ever seen. What made it so clean was around the edges it was painted or something, almost like black fog all the way around... it was weird, it just kind of faded into the weave. Anyway my question is who makes hoods like this? I'm sure I could get it painted but i'm sure my autobody guy would rather do all or nothing.
Also, if you're reading this post and dunno what I'm talking about, throw some brands out here for me. I had a wreck a couple of weeks ago and it fucked up my 5Zigen bumper and Sunny Styling hood among other things (RiP) so I'm in the market for some parts again. I think I'm going to do the 00 OEM bumper with a CF lip unless I can find someone that sells a urethane CWest Bumper. Does anyone know who I could possibly score one of those from?

damn it would suck to have 56k right about now. if you live in a big city go to a bunch of shops and look at what they have. ask your friend to email the guy he bought the hood from and see if he can get a new one or where he got his.

I make carbon hoods, and can really respect quality. That Hammerhead hood is incredible! They made a complete new substructure from scratch, which is sweet. It looks like it really simplifies the manufacturing, etc.. Props to them..
Oh yeah, I forgot. The black seam you're talking about around the edges of the hood is the mark of a poor quality piece usually. The black edge is to cover up the edges because there is something wrong with the way they make them. Any good hood won't have that, period. There really isn't any reason to black edge a hood if it's made properly and with skill..
The fade is an interesting spin on the coverup approach though, usually black gel coat is used with the edges masked off before the clear gel coat is sprayed on the mold and the first carbon layer laid over that....

my fiber images hood fit perfect, i shimmed the fender up alittle. the weave was almost perfect, a few minor flaws but not noticeable unless youre really looking for them. light too, under 10lbs.
