help on identifying ECU, etc...
just wanted to say wassup to all. As you can tell i am new to this site. If you all dont mind me asking for help, i have the following questions...
how can you identify a GSR ECU, i know the code is P72. But is there a different code or other numbers besides P72 for 94-95 and higher models?
If i am not mistaken, the 94-95 GSR ECU and motor has no knock sensor right???
last, the reason for these questions is because... we did a swap on my friends hatch. When he picked up the motor, we were sure that the motor was from a 95 GSR. only thing is that, we are uncertain if the ECU is from the same car. Right now, the CHECK ENGINE light pops up from time to time and dissappears. He flashed it for the code and i think he said it was a code 23..."KNOCK SENSOR".. now if i am right, the 94-95 has no knock sensor, so is it possible that they may have given him a 96 and up GSR ECU?? I figure the light would be on because we have no wires hooked up to a non-existing knock sensor, but the ECU is equipped with it..
ANY answers or help would be greatly appreciated!!!

i'm pretty sure all DOHC vtec engines have knock sensors...
my 2nd gen b16 had one so i would imagine your friends obd1 b18c would have a knock sensor...
try posting in the Integra forum.... probably get better and more definate replies.
good luck

Erik

i think all b18c1 had knock sensors.
what year is your friends car? what engine harness did you use. if you use the stock civic harness you have to run a wire from the ECU(D3) straight to the knock sensor.
