Help! I cant get out of park!
I have a 99 civic ex automatic. I just washed it, then drove it into the garage to dry it. Well im about to leave and I cant get out of park! When I depress the brake and try to push in the button to move it out of park, the button will not go in. This is the first time this has happend, so i have no clue what it is or what to do. Any one have any possible suggestions? Any help is appreciated.

Have somebody press your brake, and see if your brake lights turn on. If not it's probably a bad brake sensor switch.
I don't know about Hondas but on most other cars you can remove the "stopper" piece - just take the bezzel out and you can see the plastic piece that stops it from going into gear - just snap that off and it won't be brake pedal dependant. Though that's just a half-assed way of patching it. In the meanwhile you can just leave it in neutral and pull the e-brake up when you turn the car off.

Check and see if your brake lights work, if they don't it will not come out of park. The switch/fuse might have failed if the brake lights do not come on. If they do come on, you will need to check 3 wires at the ECU to determine where the break/short is.
Ignition in OFF: disconnect the ECU connectors A and B, and do a voltage drop across these wires:
Connector A, Pin 32 (GRN/WHT) to Connector B, Pin 20 (BRN/BLK) You should have battery voltage there.
Connector A, Pin 32 (GRN/WHT) to Connector B, Pin 22 (BRN/BLK) You should also have battery voltage there.
If you do not have battery voltage at those wires, or the voltage between the two tests varies greatly, you have an intermittent break in the brake switch wire to the ECU.
Make sure you get that fixed, you can remove the interlock to move the car, but your torque converter clutch may not function, and your gas mileage will suffer.
