HELP - how to fix impossible exaust leak
hey guys.
I have a hole on the downpipe of the exaust manifold on my 92 VX. The thing is, the hole is right where a braket is that leads to the engine somewhere..anyone know where i'm talkin' about?
the whole exaust manifold piping is pretty rusted. I wanted to just patch it up with some exuast leak kits or something, but since that bracket is there, i dont think i can do that. any suggestions on how to go about fixing this?
i was thinking of goin to a muff shop and having them cut that section off, weld a new section on, and maybe make a duplicate bracket...don't really know how much thaat'd cost. maybe 30 bucks?...
I was also thinking of just getting some cheap used, maybe, header..cuz i dont want to invest too much $$ on this motor (stock VX motor). but then i was thinking; would i need to get an si/ex cat since the cat on VXs are in front of the block?? sorry for this long-*** post. thanx guys.

jbweld wont work, it gets too hot, I know from experience. Buy a new downpipe, or use some inferno weld. It all depends on the size of the hole. I have a downpipe from a 98 cx hatch, I don't know if it will fit your 92vx, but if it will your welcome to buy it. I can sell it to you for cheaper than a weld repair would cost. But if the hole is smaller than a nickel i would just use inferno weld. You can get it at advanced auto parts, good to 2000F.

Re: (Heinz57)
here's your answer: apexi ws exaust.. but really, its not gonna cost too much at the muffler shop, my friend got all the piping welded on (2 1/4in) from the header to the muffler for only $40... good luck!
