HELP!!!! How bad is this?
I am only lowered on one side, the rear driver's side.
Also on the rear passenger side, my stupid friend grinded one of the sides of the shocks off.
In the pic, the circled part is what he grinded off. Is it okay for me to drive on?

let me guess, did you have a seized bolt and you tried to grind it out?
if you have a local shop that welds, you could have it welded back together, if it was a clean cut.

No I didn't do it, I told him not to, but he was damn wrong, ok I'll go to a shop and have someone either lower the car for me or just weld the piece of metal back on.
And yes the bolt was seized and he wanted to grind it off to get the shock off, bad idea!

Punch your friend as hard as you can, because now he owes you a new shock. A shop will not under no circumstances weld that metal back on. Its not safe. Buy a new shock. Have them install that. Have them take out all the old bolts on your suspension that you cant. Install all new bolts. Have them install the new springs. They may let you watch them, so you can learn. I learned my own lesson about a year ago. Most people just have to learn the hard way, have questions you can PM me if you would like.

what the !?!?!?!....are you serious first off i doubt that there will be any shops that will weld the piece of metal back on. For safety reasons im sure most shops will tell you just replace the shock due to the fact that they arent that expensive. secondly you should make your "friend" pay for it, cause that is simply one of the stupidest things ive heard in a long time.
my advice; friend cuts mounting bracket off shock equals you replacing your shocks and thinking about replacing your friend. Atleast when it comes to working on your whip.

your friend is a retard.
you can have that welded back on.
but if you have another shock then just change it.
get an energy bushing kit while your in there since youll have to replace the bushings anyways

that doesnt mean that it would be the correct way of fixing it. I am about 99% sure that any car repair shop would say "needs new shocks". In my honest opinion i would not trust the durability of my car expecially something that has to do with suspension on a weld. That would be a totally sweet weld to have break while your ripping on your car. boo

Its not just smart, it would be COMPLETELY irresponsible of you and the shop to allow this type of work.

Re: (EK_B)
although i would weld it if i did that.. because im certified and know what im doing. but yeah if the dude welding it doesn't make it perfect. it could result in it cracking or breaking. the metal around the weld will crack and break b4 the weld... as for putting stuff thats under pressure on a weld... look around you. more stuff then u ever knew is welded and put under extreme pressure. more then a single shock.
