help, my heater is dead. all my instrument lights are dead for the heater and all the other lil stuff near it. when i push it, the lil lights don't show orange or green anymore. i've checked fuse already, not the problem. what could it be and has anyone had this problem before.

the fuse could still be good... and you could just have a part problem. it could be the dash controls going out or a short or ground in the electrical (assuming the blend door for your heater is electrically controlled.) good luck though.

More information would probably help. What year is it? Civic? Or Del Sol?

Is your heater not putting out heat, are the lights just out, or both? (sounds like both)

I know 92-95 Civics have manual heat controls, so the two could be relatively unrelated if it's that generation. Can't remember anymore if my 96 had manual controls. Then again they may have changed in 99-00. That's why the year is important.

the 96-98 are also manual. sounds like a bad connection. is it just the lights? or the heater as well?

it's both, it's a 94 civic si. it's not blowing when i turned it on. lights are also all dead as well. one day i was messing with my foglights, i created a on/off switch for the foglights. i connect the fog lights directly to the postive and negative battery. when i turn it on, the wire's starting burning. i turn it off, turn it on again and it still burned. so i decided to take it off, and when i went inside my car, i turn on my lights, i see that my climate control is dead. i turn on the heater, and it doesn't work as well. that was the problem. so any idea now guys.

Since it's a 94, it's a manual heater, so it's probably still flowing fluid into the heater core, you just can't feel it because the fan isn't working. I bet if you let the engine warm up, put it on heat, drove down the highway, the natural suction effect would blow warm/hot air out of the vents. So your heater core is probably fine. When you say heater, some of us start thinking there's a coolant problem, but that aspect is probably fine.

So you've just got an electrical short of some sort. I would retrace the wire(s) you ran and see any other wires were affected. If the wires got hot enough to smoke, they got hot enough to melt the insulator, which means it could've melted the insulator of other wires they were in contact with.

BTW, when you say you checked the fuse box, did you check both the in-dash and underhood fuses?

FWIW, I'm really lousy at diagnosing electrical issues, hopefully someone who's good at this will jump in... good luck...

yes when i drive it down with the heat on, it get's hot air because, i was thinking it should just be a short somewhere. it's gonna be hard to look for though, do i have to take out my whole dash board. where should i start first? i check both underhood and in car fuses already.

man it's getting reallie hard now. i've tried looking for the short on one of the wires and can't find it. how does a short look like anyways. i've started on the passenger side, un plug the wire's where it makes the climate control lights come on and i'm searching through those wires. you guys know how much it would cost if i take it to honda.
