Help with exhaust leak at the head!!
I have a 2000 civic all stock motor....noticed the problem when I took my car to autoshop like 3 years ago and the teacher said it looks like I mite have a leak, but could be the gasket. No c/e light at the time...Then all the sudden after a few years (js ignored the problem) the c/e comes on.
Found out the exhaust mani had a crack in the damn cast iron-typical.
Swapped it out with brand new headers and full catback, including a new cat.
Still, c/e light is on, and seems to be a leak where the head meets the exhaust mani.
Throwing p0420 code and that is all.
Seems stupid for not doing anything right away, but didnt know anything about cars, and sounded like ppl didnt think it was a huge deal....
Do I need to replace the head? Seems like I replaced everything else before I shoulda looked at the bigger issue....
Reset the codes too many times....
Please excuse my wandering brain-been on a 5 hour writing marathon for school (lol)....I hate papers
Any help is appreciated!

Re: Help with exhaust leak at the head!!
Listen for audible leaks or puffs. Check for air being ventilated from the exhaust side of the head. Check torque on the manifold bolts at the head. The normal stuff.

I also read that it could be a burned valve? is that possible?? I remember taking a compression test and one cylinder was really low. I know-but I knew nothing about cars, which is why I did autoshop lol
