probably just need ur valve lash adjusted. but the B series needs a special tool to get down in there and make the adjustments.

Do a tune up, check timing, use 91 or higher octane, if still making noise, adjust valves, all my B-series cars have made a ticking sound, not to loud, but noticeable to me, but never had any problems, how loud is the TICKING???

well its not the idle ticking noise i know that one. the ticking isnt really loud at all its only a slight noise that i heard and then asked my friend about but like i said we cant figure out what it is. ive been using mid grade (89) for gas.

I have had a similar problem but my ticking is only present while im driving and in gear and the car is around 2.5 - 3.5k

Whenever i had oil changes it would get rid of it until the oil burned off

I don't know what it is but I did take my cat shield off and it helped with the noise but didn't eliminate it. I think it's either an o2 sensor clearance issue, debris around the heat shield and the mounts or maybe something stuck in your tranny mount.

Everything that i did to get rid of the noise reduced it but didn't get rid of it so i think there are a couple of things moving around. Probably same for you.

A tune up includes a valve adjustment. Honda reccomends doing one every 30k miles.

a very small exhaust leak between head/header or header/cat can cause a sound similar to valve noise.

No it doesn't. A valve INSPECTION is recommended but a valve adjustment is every 90k .

Good catch. I also thought it was the coupling between my header and my exhaust. Make sure everything is tightened down.

Wait for the noise to start and then drive your car up on a ramp and put some grease on the exhaust couplings.....see if that works.

I forgot to mention that one thing i did was add and extra exhaust hanger to my car since my DC Sports exhaust came with 2 hangers around the shifter. This really helped out....so maybe what we're both describing IS an exhaust leak...because It def didn't seem mechanical.

GOod luck.
