Re: help!! emissions! (herbalist)
you should try it anyway.
im not familiar with emissions laws in va, but....
if they put the car on a dyno to check the emissions, you should make sure the cat has lit off which it should when the car is at normal operating temps. im not a big believer in that easypass echeck fuel additive stuff, but i know people that swear by the ****, and it probably wouldn't hurt.
ive heard that usdm ecu have weird security issues when retrofitted in cars that were not originally equipped with that computer, so i would research that option heavily before you decide on going that route.
ive got a 92 hatch with a jdm b16, andi didn't think my car would pass echeck either, but it passed with flying colors.

Re: help!! emissions! (ev13lf)
thanks i dont know why mine isn't passing i think im just going to bite the bullet and take it to my mechanic and have him fix it because i cant be without a car for much longer, even if it does cost 500$ to fix, do you know how to wire up your check engine light so that it comes on when the key is turned partially and then so it turns off when the car starts, in other words wire it up correctly? haha

The problem is the ECU - its JDM. USDM scantools can't communicate with JDM ECUs, so give up trying to pass with it. Can you use a USDM to pass? Well...can you get around the immobilizer issue? If your car was originally an Ex, then it should have come with an FTP sensor, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Again, the immobilizer is the real issue.

I don't know of a way short of installing the immobilizer system and getting the dealership involved to do some re-programming.
Maybe there exists an OBD2 Integra ECU that doesn't have the immobilizer installed?? Hmmm....
Or...

...was short for search.
Now, if you happen to come across such an ECU, then the next thing you're going to have to do is search to see if that particular ECU will be satisfied by the sensors, or lack of, that your JDM engine uses, or doesn't use.
