If you REALLY can't seem to figure it out, take it somewhere and have it checked out, just to be on the safe side.

if you have the stock radio make sure the green plug behind it is actually plugged in to the back of the radio, as your door trigger wire runs through the radio to get to the dome light. or put a jumper wire across lt. green/red to lt. green/black wires in the green plug then if you do change your radio your all set. also ive seen the switches in the domelight get corrosion on the terminals. just drop the domelight, take the cover of the rear of the switch, get your girlfriends finger nail file and scuff the three copper dots, and the switch contact, wipe it with alcohol(rubbing not drinking) put it back together. hope this helps
