so im driving today and all of a sudden i hear this weird sound. it's hard to describe. it sounds like a sqeaking sound as if i had bad brakes, but im not pressing my brakes at all. and the sound is pretty much continuous. could it somehow be the brakes? or could it be busted axles? i've no idea. please help.

do you need brake pads? or maybe you have a bad caliper. axles make a clicking noise when they need to be replaced.

it's only when i roll. and i really can't pin-point where the sound is coming from either.

Might be debris inbetween pads n disc. I found a pebble riding in there once.

are your pads worn out, it could be he warning sensor on the pad

i really doubt its a belt. when i got my swap, the ppl who did it for me also changed the belts. and this was just a year ago, so i think they are still fine.

yeah i really think it could be the pads. ill have a look at the pads and see if any debris are stuck in between.

sorry to steal the topic but mine also sqeaking and it really bother me. Something on the drivers side wheel. Pretty sure around the brakes but if I brake it goes away or if I corner hard it won't sqeaking until I drive normal again. Anybody have an idea?

dude thats exactly how mine is, except that mines on the front passenger side. im fricken stumped.

wow im glad i read this i was just getting ready to make the same post. ive noticed on my 98 ex the sound comes the front pass. side wheel, only when im rolling, when i press the brakes it goes away so i dont think its the squeaker on the pads b/c wouldnt it squeek when i press the brakes not the other way areound? someone please help a few guys out!

yeah i just took a look under my car, and my CV boots are busted to ******* nuts. gunk everywhere. and the thing is i dont know how long its been like that.

could it be this that's making sound? i'm gonna have to replace the whole axle anyways. and i know this is a little off topic, but i have a gsr swap in my eg and im not sure which axles to get? civic or gsr?

a little update...

i talked to my friend and he said the sqeaking problem is an indicator letting u know that u need to replace ur pads soon. it had happened to his gf car. so ill just changed the pads and see wat happens.

its more of like a sqeaking sound. are u saying that the heat shield could be rubbing up against the rotor? has this happened to u before?

If it goes away when you press your brakes it is probably pads.

It's the other way around. You apply the breaks and get the squealers telling you your pads are worn.

If the noise is happening while you're driving when the brakes are not applied, I'd put my money on debris between the pad and rotor like 94sohcVTEC said.

if the pads are already past the warners it is possible to do it while the brakes are not apllied because it is now directly metal to metal

Yes it has happened to me before, outta no where. I just bent it back and no more issues.

Works both way. When your pads first hit the squeeler it will do it when you apply the brakes. When your pads are more worn the squeeler is in constant contact with the rotor=squeel all the time.

I have the exact same problems on my passenger front wheel, i will change the brake pads and see if it still does it.
