Default help. del sol rear garnish removal.

Sweating my butt off in the garage trying to take my del sol's rear garnish off. Anyone know how to get it off? I hear vice grips and cut off tool, but I want to be sure and which parts. So far I see, 3 in the middle, 2 on top and 2 on the bottom. Thanks.

Are you talking about this?
https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/how-do-you-remove-rear-plate-garnish-del-sol-2619827/

I think its 2 top, 2 bottom, and *2* middle. I just used vice grips on mine (2 middle) and a deep socket 12mm I think on the top and bottom. The middle ones are basically 2 rounded nuts inside the trunk. Grip it by the nuts and turn. ( sounds kind of painful actually)

Yeah, that.

So if I use vise grips, I can twist from the outside...

and if I use dremel, I can cut from the inside?

Hm... I thought there were 3... 1 in the middle? If not, Idk what I unbolted, but they're the 10mm right? So grip it while the nut is on it or take it off? Yeah, its beginning to sound dirty.

I don't think those studs will turn easily. The round nuts inside the trunk were easy to take off with the vice grips.

Remove the 2 upper and 2 lower (10mm) nuts. Remove the 2 middle nuts with vice grips or cut with a dremel. Then you should be able to remove the garnish/panel by just pulling it off.

and if I use dremel, I can cut from the inside?
Yes.

but they're the 10mm right?
Probably 10mm. I was just guessing at the 12mm. It's been a while.

You're correct. 12mm 4 bolts and 10mm 3 bolts.
So twisting bolt means to twist the black screw ends after I take the nut off right?

I just got one recently. But, a black and decker. Im happy with it. I put the jdm fillers on the edm panel. Im gonna have to dremel the body for rear fog anyways. I want to take the panel off as clean as possible. But, if I would have to dremel, just cut both screws from the inside off? Im gonna have to take some pictures of the panel x__x

just take your time and dont make any quick movements, the black and decker isnt bad at all. just keep your hand steady and make sure u use some goggles or safety glasses, u dont want metal flakes in ur eye. post some pics wen its done.
