Default Help deciding on a Header (2000 Si)

I've been looking at header's for a while and i've come down to 3 choices, but im not sure which one is good. Im looking at the Greddy 4-2-1 stainless, DC 4-2-1 stainless, and the Apex GT header. Which would give me a throat-ier exhaust sound and better gains? Im more of a CARB legal person, but i'll let that slide
Thanks.

i would recomend the AN-R compact header if u had the extra cash. definately made my exhaust deeper in tone and i picked up mid-top end power over my JDM DC 4-1

Hrmm...the DC sport 4-2-1 brushed Stainless has caught my eye hahaha. Anyone know what the typical gains are?

according to Import tuner Dyno results. DC usually gains 2-4 whp and 2 ft lbs of torqe with its 2.25 Collector.

please correct me if i'm wrong, but you can't run a/c with the AN-R header, can you? and i read a while back dc recalled a lot of their headers b/c they were breaking on the welds, apparently the new ones are supposed to be better.

Honestly, I don't like how the Ceramic coated header looks..im more into the stainless finish, SInce the Stainless Steel polished finish is so expensive, im looking into the Stainless Steel brushed finish. Correct me if im wrong, but 4-2-1 will give me more mid range gains whereas the 4-1 will give me high end gains?

The brushed finnish is very nice. Ceramic is ok too just less expensive for the same performance. The 4-2-1 will be a better header for you especially if your car is only mildly modified and you don't plan on doing a lot more with it. The DC header is probably the least expensive out of the 3 that you looked at and the power gains should all be about the same so I'd go with that. Also the collector should only be 2" if it is CARB legal because other than the USDM ITR DC header which has a 2.25" collector (and is CARB legal because the stock exhaust is also 2.25"), all the other DC headers have a 2" collector to maintain CARB legality. The JDM DC header has a 2.5" collector but isn't CARB legal.

What about power steering? It seems to me that their header doesn't allow the use of one of these 2 things. I like the ANR header a lot but the DC and other headers being considered allows you to run the stock A/C and PS without problem.

I havent seen a AN-R B-series header that retains A/C so i wanna see this. I just looked at there website and ran through there names on HT and i see nothing about a header that retains A/C.

The race Header the one that comes straight out towards the raditor will not clear the condensor

the Compact version will not clear the Compressor

The Drag header goes right out the side where the A/C compressor would be

Actually, the USDM ITR manifold has a 2" OD collector, like all USDM Integra manifolds. It's true that the majority of the exhaust piping is 2.25" OD, but there are several smaller bottlenecks, including where the cat (which has significantly smaller piping) bolts to the exhaust.

Based on personal experience, I think ordering a DC 4-2-1 header is a waste of money. If you're stuck on getting a carb exempt header, and want something very mild, at least go with the DC 4-1.

You might change your mind if you tried the ANR header.

I thought my JDM DC 4-1 was the ****..lol then i got my first AN-R header and it blew the JDM DC out of the water. I picked up alot in the midrange-top end over the DC. i have always sworn by AN-R even when some peeps were spreading rumors about there headers where not good to run open header. I made over 50 passes this season open header and still is flawless.. AN-R kicks ***. I might be puttin together another group buy around tax time. so watch for it.

Yeah, I really love the ANR. I was using a JDM DC 4-1, and later a Dynamic Autosport 4-1 with my current poorman ITR set up, and the ANR completely blew them out of the water. The midrange and top end gains are substantial. I can't say enough about the headers performance

I would get AN-R, but I hear you can't use A/C and sometimes power steering...plus, i don't have that kind of money.

JDM ITR HEADER

made for 1.8L block, hangs lower, still gets the smack down from a stock DC JDM version (unless you port the inner welds and reweld on the outside, stainless will then look like **** and with all that and the optional heat sheilds it's 2x more than a DC version) AND there's the little thing about him then having to switch out his cat and exhaust to 2.5 or make an adapter which negates most of the gains

BTW since rage apparently employs the AN-R guy now check with them I believe they have an application for ac and ps use but in stainless it will be 2x more than the DC and require the cat and exhaust upgrade and tuning to get it right
