Re: help with a d17 swap* (lbcracing)
D17's arent really worth it, their the economy engines, and even the EX only has a VTEC-E, not VTEC. Its not worth the trouble, a good amount of things are changed (considering its labled as a D motor) , and the trannys are cable too... that wont work in your EG unless you install a whole new shifter system. I sometimes drive my friends 02 EX, and its a turd, lol no offense. slow reving, VTEC-E, sluggish. Not a fan at all.
Noone really has (as far as i know) Mount kits for it, nor would they want to really, because everyone i know who has or had an 01-05 civic, was looking to junk the D17 for a K swap.
If your looking for some 'go' for your EG, id say get a D16Z6, their fairly cheap since their from 92-95 civics, and id recommned throwing a stage one Cam in it. Give you a little bit of fun for a single cam.
For future reference, i use the term 'Turd' cause they run 17+ second 1\4 miles... thats a turd in my book.

yeah i had a y8 in it. but it spun a bearing. my budy had a d17 for 200 bucks so i wanted to see if it was possible. plus you never hear of anyone with one in a 95. anyway thanks for the help! do you think i could use d17 crank and rods for more torque? i messd up my y8 crank anyway. jus trying to stick with single cams jus to be different.

if you had a lead slug the size of a d17 and you could choose which one you wanted for free, go for the lead
01-05 in general arent even considered worthy of being tunable, the ricer crowd loves em tho
then agian the ricer crowd only likes "new" cars

no reason to get an eagle crank for stock anyway, and iif you do get eagle rods your going to have to notch the block, why bother, what you are looking for is a simple rebuild, many a times i see a spun bearing broken rod, and minor damage to a crank
you prolly just need a micro ploish unless those journals are fubard
