Default Help With D16Y8 Swap!

Im putting a 97 d16y8 into my 94 hatch, I have the ecu for the motor but I need a harness. After I get a harness how will I got about wiring it up? I took a look at the harness I have(cut) and besides hookin it to the motor and ecu im lost. It looks like I will need to wire it to my fuse box or if I use the one out of the 97 car I will have to slipce in my harness under the dash? Is there something im missing?

Use the harness from your car on the new engine, and run a p28 d16z6 ecu that way you can use your stock obd1 wiring, and you won't need a jumper to run a y8 ecu. If your hatch already had a z6 in it then you won't need to add wires for vtec to function. if your car is a dx then the stock engine was non-vtec ,and you'll need to either run the wires for vtec from the ecu yourself, or get a subharness like this.

in the event your hatch is a cx you will need the 4-wire o2 added as well. and you can add those wires yourself, like i mentioned before. or just use this

when i do the y7 and y8 swaps into the 92-95 civics, i just use the stock IM from your old engine and your old wiring harness. it works everytime. if you werent vtec in the beginning then you have to wire in vtec but its easy. hope that might help you too.

yep get yourself another stock harness. also you can use your stock intake manifold, or the one off the newer engine. won't make an appreciable difference either way.

What needs to be done to keep the y8 IM? Swap injectors and what else? The Y8 looks to have something on the fuel rail my older motor didnt.
