HELP!! Converting a non a/c car from factory to have a/c
I have a canadian spec 96 ek it came with no a/c from factory. Is there anyway to install a/c in it? I have a complete a/c setup but the car doesn't have the wires that ek's with a/c have. The car blows air but just hot air it doesn't have the "green" button that turns on the a/c.
Is it possible to rig it somehow by taking the harness from another car? Or maybe switching out the dash?
It's hot here in Fl

CDM and EDM hondas have different specifications than USDM or JDM ones do.
And as far as i know, you will need to get a climate control console that is equipped with the A/C button, and wire that up. I also believe there is a fuse that goes along with it as well in the fusebox under the hood, im not 100% on that tho.

I hope it's just the harness, climate control & fuse, i'll have to check today to make sure there is a space for the fuse.
And no the car isn't right hand drive.

The console and wiring should be enough to get it going.

There was never a CX trim level in Europe. I have the EDM Honda electronic parts catalog right here and it's never listed. Had it been built, it would be in there.
All '96-'00 USDM Civic hatchbacks were built in Canada. All '96-'00 USDM coupes were built in the US. '96-'00 USDM sedans were built in Canada, the US and Japan, depending on the car.

Actually, you just said it was imported from Europe. You didn't say it had a swapped motor, and that was the only relevant information. It being imported back from Europe doesn't have anything to do with if the a/c will fit.
A/C was an option in '96-'00 CX and DX hatchbacks.
What European motor is in it?

Re: (NOFX)
Ok...Either way it didn't come with a/c if it did there would be a button and harness for it There's not. It has no a/c componets on the car.

So, in short, you have an ITR swap in your '96 Civic and you'd like to know how to add a/c.
I can't tell you all the components, but I'm pretty sure there is a list in a thread somewhere around here. I know the button cap just pops out and you can add a button in. The climate control for the '96-'98 Civics without a/c is the same climate control for the '96-'98 Civics with a/c. If you put a CX climate control (with no a/c) into my EX (with a/c) and just replace the button, a/c will work and the light on the button will glow.

Re: (NOFX)
yeh basically, i have everything as far as the lines, condensor, compressor etcc...
I just wanted to know what else i needed i'll probably just wind up swapping out the entire climate control. I'll try installing the harness and new climate control and see if that works..
