a couple of things for ya...

1) check the ground on your Thermostat Housing
2) unplug you VSS and look at the pins on the inside of the harness side plug
3) take the cluster back b/c that's not your problem
4) tell me what year, make and model your car is

its ******* bullshit, my VSS is broken, buy another functioning one (the owner was USING it right before me) and it doesn't work. then i try my boy dave's VSS and it doesn't work, when we go to put it back in his car, HIS doesn't work. after ******* around all this time, i drive home and it starts working for me, but only for about 10 minutes before the code starts pulling up again and i can't see my mph.

now i gotta pay for 2 VSS's and make sure both run right

Mine does this as well. I only get the code every once and a while and my speedo will work probably 2-3 times a day when I'm driving. It all started happening after I got my clutch done. Never tried to put a new VSS in though so iono.

so.... im about to go to the mechanic to pick up my car after he did nothing to it... LOL sooooo anyway, on the way to the mechanic it started to bounce around like if there was an electrical problem... i have a feeling it might be the connection on the harness side... i might juist go buy some pigtails and ghetto-rig it to the vss and see if it works...

I had a similar issue. Check fuse # 15 under your dash on the drivers side and read this post https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=847452 after all was said and done it turned out to be a stupid fuse...(thank god)

I had a couple problems like this.

One was a 98 ITR, the fuse was blown. Alt/Sp fuse.

But most commonly, the connections get really corroded. Either repin them, or clean them off really good.

the back up fuse is the fuse you remove under the hood to reset the ECU......NOT , i repeat, NOT to be confused with the ECU fuse
