is the clicking coming from under the shifter/change cable area??? Or from the tranny?

what kind fo shifter is it??

Maybe you tightened the bolt too tight through the shifter and what you're hearing is the metal on metal contact after the paint wore off after a couple weeks

maybe some thing is loose, or maybe the shift linkage isn't bolted on all the way........
