when you say brand new dizzy, did you double check the timing? also, how is the starter? is it clicking?

before even getting to the distributor part, are all yout grounds bolted down. the car won't start if there is no grounds.

Prolly don't wanna hear this..but it sounds like a bad ground..

If you're POSITIVE then you might wanna look at temporarily swapping out the starter and seeing if that's it.

i only know of 3.

1. the one that bolts to the tranny.
2. the one that bolts to the valve cover.
3. the one near the thermostat housing.

Sounds good to me.

Make sure you have enough battery voltage.
Make sure your battery terminal connections are tight and clean.

make sure none of your grounds are broken. there was a thread last week where someone couldnt get their car started, and the grounds looked good, but one of the wires was actually broken where you couldnt see it.

Take the starter back out and put it back in. I have had to do this on two engine changes.

Then plan on buying a rebuilt starter soon.

What exactly does this do?

I'm curious.

sounds like you need a starter, this is dumb, but have you tried changing the battery?.
