Default HELP/ADVICE fixing “Green” Drive light in Cluster

Hi HTers , I am having the following problem with 2 of my civics.

Both in my 96 & 99 are automatics and the “Green” D light, (which indicates that your in Drive- position) are not lighting. I ‘m assuming the bulbs are out and need replacing. And in order to do that I figured I must totally remove the cluster to access the backside. But is it as simple as simply replacing a light bulb?

Where do I get them?

Has anyone had this problem or can give advice to address this such as the steps or links for the do-it-yourself approach?
Any help is most appreciated.

Any auto parts store(Napa, Advanced, Autozone)... Take it with you and have them match it up.

So your confirming that they-(meaning the bulbs for Drive, Neutral, Park, etc) are "accessible" from the back of the cluster?
Just want to confirm to have an idea what I'm up against.. Please confirm..

yup, they are accessible from the back. There will be little plastic plug things that hold the bulb and you turn it 90* and it will pop out

Hi thumper64,
thanks for the advice, I think I know what your talking about regarding the plastic/90* turn-to-remove thing..
So the "bulbs" are really nothing special, meaning I can pick those up at any Kragen, Napa, Advanced, Autozone etc..
Humm good to know...

Yep. In and out of the store in 5 mins, unless they sell you the wrong one, which probably happens a lot. Bring the bulb and/or the cluster with you and compare.
