help: 96 civic with swap ls problem
can anyone help my car starts up for about 30 seconds then it dies and for that 30 seconds the engine sounds bad and run rich and there is a knock from around the tranny

MAKE SURE THE TIMING GEAR IS SET RIGHT. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WHEN I INSTALLED THE LS IN MY EK.. THE CAM GEAR WAS OFF A TOOTH SO IT RAN LIKE **** AND DIED TOO.

i found out what the problem is now the runs but then when you rev the engine to like 2000 and up the car feels like it's going to die and some time it die i change the iacv to a two wire if that helps

i cant almost bet ur cam timing is off.. i did a ls swap in my 93 hatchback and mine would act like urs and after messing around with it so much and coming up with nothing i said screw it and took it to a shop near my house. They put my car on a dyagnostic machine and found out that my cam timing was off, so all together for the test and to fix it, it was only like $65. There was a few other problems like one of my injectors was bad and i had a iacv problem too, but the main thing was the cam timing...its all good now tho

it was my spark plug wires put on wrong and now it run but like i said if u step on it or rev it up feels like dying and sometimes it dies

no there is no sound it just drops all the way down to like 50 to 100 rpm and stays there for a seconds then rise back up but if u step on it hard then it dies

Yeah sounds like you have a fuel issue. Its flooding the motor. I had the same problem. Make sure your fuel regulater is good. It seems that its not sending the fuel back to the fuel tank fast enough and making the motor flood out. What does the fuel pressure read?

WOW. I think thats the problem right there. The pressure is too high. Adjust it down to 33-35psi. If you have a stock fuel regulator then you can't adjust anything. But if you have an after market one then adjust it down to that. I had the same problem with my swap. I put an aftermarket fuel pump on and it read 80psi ll the time and everytie I step on the gas the car wouldn't move and dies. Buy the big AEM one because the little baby stock replacemnt one can't release the extra fuel back fast enough and you really can't adjust it low enough. But since you stated the fuel system is stock then your be ok with the stock replacement.

have not change it yet because i took the timeing belt off to check timing but i will let u know and would u happen to know why the heat and air don't work no more it was work when i started up the car then later it died ?

Try checking the fuse on it. I bet its that. If the fuse is good then more likely the heater motor went out.

Wow, ummmm.. It could be a number for things now. Like the heater/blower relay, Blower motor could of went bad, To tell you the truth I wouldn't know where to start on that issue. Sorry.

Sorry retarded question. It should be located by the battery in the engine compartment on the passenger side. It should be in a black box with other fuses and relays. the cap on the box should state what relay is the blower.
