Default HELP!!!!!!! IS 225f Bad?

Okay I live in phoenix and it’s hot as hell like 100f-115f. I’ve been running 210f before freeway and 225f on the freeway in the day time and sometimes at night. As soon as I get off the freeway it drops to 210f-220f. The stock temp gauge goes horizontal and the mechanical gauge says 210f-225f. the heater blows 150f on the freeway and 135f on the streets. I replaced the thermostat 180f, just replaced radiator with a aluminum radiator, replaced headgasket oem, new hoses, new cap, new coolant, bleed it correctly, new temp sending sensor, new slim line fan 2000cfm and it blowing in the correct direction. presure test it 170psi across. And I have spacer on the hood so it kinda a cowl. What next? Timing belt? Water pump?

An oem thermostat is set to open at 190 degrees. A racing one like spoon opens up at 160. If u think ur still running hot then remove the thermostat for the rest of the summer and replace it with a new one when it gets cooler.

i've heard the same. if the water pump isn't leaking then don't worry about it. why don't you try something like a spoon thermo, where they open at a lower temp.

a few ideas off the top of my head...

find a washer of the same outer diameter as the thermostat and put it in the place of the thermostat. This will slow down the antifreeze enough for the radiator to work yet allow more flow than the thermostat. (old parade trick)

With that much ambient heat a full width radiator may be in order.

what are your intake temps like? boosting in that heat has have them in the stratosphere as well.
It may also be a tuning issue.... you may need to add a little timing in the cruising areas of the ignition map to reduce your EGTs and cylinder temps.

i would suggest just using water and maybe some redline water wetter...antifreeze is so overrated Also, you should check to see if your thermostat is opening at the correct temperature

Antifreeze has a lower boiling point...

antifreeze also does not transmit heat as well as water.
water with just enough antifreeze to lubricate the waterpump and some water wetter will keep the car cooler than 50/50 mix.

all though it should not be required. And will cause serious problems if you ever see temps lower than 35*F

two slim fans on a full width radiator is a good idea. all though two slim fans on a single width is pointless.
it may even cause the car ot overheat more on the highway. (fans become a restriction over 40mph)

I bet you it your intercooler because I my setup did the same in summer 210 to 225 temp on my autometer water guage. I got **** because I cant drive the car on the highway because of cooling system so I took my intercooler off and the water temp drop back to my normal water temp 180, and I got the same Drag intercooler. Your radiator is not getting the 60 to 80 mph wind because of the intercooler.

This is funny. I was datalogging today and noticed that my coolant temp stays around 220 and pushes 230-240 idling. Gotta figure this out.
