Help! 2000 Civic Si 1.6l DOHC vtec, Skunk2 Intake manifold and 70mm throttle body high idle . .
Hey guys. I have looked for this topic and couldn;t find it. I have a 2000 civic si with the b16a2. I bought a skunk2 intake manifold, a skunk2 70mm throttle body, and a hondata heat gasket for the manifold and installed everything yesterday. Everything bolted up great and used every nut and bolt. The problem is when i start my car, it idles at 1500 and then slowly climbs to around 2100 and stays there. I drive my car and it seems slower but when i am driving and its in gear and i;m decelerating down a hill as soon as it reaches 3000rpm and lower my car starts to make a slight popping noise and the car jerks around. I am convinced its a vacume leak but i have checked everything over. any ideas to check for or thoughts of what it might be?? any help would be great. I checked the coolant levels and everything and thats all topped off. thanks

pull it all off and use an oem gasket and see if that fixes the problem. it might just be a defect in one of the parts also.

Did you remember to check the cruise control tube? It's often forgotten. You can use brake cleanner to spray on gasket area when idling to see if the idle goes up. If it does, you got a leak at the gasket area.

Re: (josh9000)
hey. well i found out what the problem was incase anyone does the same setup and buys the same thing. I did a smoke test at work because i was convinced i had a vacume leak. turns out i was right. it wasn't leaking from any gasket or lines, it was leaking from a missing gasket that goes inside the throttle body spring. it turned out to be a defect throttle body and i sent it to skunk2 and they fixed it and shipped it back for free. i installed it today and it runs awsome.
