Default Help !

My friends 93 honda civic engine wont start or even rotate. The solenoid pops and thats it wehen you try and start it. The check engine and battery light come on, so we took the battery out and are takin it to get tested right now. I tried jumping it earlier with my car and it didnt do a thing.

Any idea on what to do? I though maybe I should try and read the egnine codes but I dont really know how. I got a chilton manaual but not a real big help and showing how to read it.

I just hope the engine not seized, he said it sounded like it was dieseling the day b4 when it worked.

TIA

Sounds like the starter or the battery.

ya the starter is the conclusion i think, the battery was checked at autozone and it passed the test.

would tha starter going bad allow alot of oil into the exhuast? I know the engine burned some oil, but wipping your fingers on the exhuast tip and they were covered with black fresh oil?

We going to get the starter off and take it either today or tomorrow.

Warning!!
Alot of oil in the exhaust is a sign of Blow by. Blow by is when the piston rings are starting to go or are gone and are alowwing oil past the rings. When the oil gets past the rings it gets pumped into the exhaust and intake.
Fix your starter problem but beware it sounds like there is a larger issue to come.
Use Caution.
I recommend you check the intake and see if it has oil in it too. If it does I am willing to bet the motor is all used up. Get a new motor soon if that is the case. Don't bother doing a compression check because with Blow By the cylinders get sealed by the oil so the compression marks could still seem good. If Blow by is in its worst stages you will see oil getting pumped out of TB.

Good Luck,
Jayson S.
