I hate my Haynes.

It's ******* worthless IMO. I can get onto HT and find what I need as opposed to using a Haynes, which goes into no detail.

i use Haynes because it's all we have at our local auto parts stores. i've become very familiar with it. between that book and my common sense, i've found 90% of what i need, without coming to h-t. i also have the service manuals no my comp, but i don't know my way around it very well.. so it can be frustrating.
i'd say anything is better than nothing.

The manuals printed by Helm Inc. are the official Honda factory service manuals used by dealership technicians. They are more comprehensive with the specifications and procedures needed to disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble the car.

No, you're thinking of the owner's manual (which Helm Inc. also prints for Honda, by the way). He's talking about the service manual (the one I linked you to).

I personally own both manuals, Haynes and Helms. I use the Haynes for easy stuff, Helms when I need more comprehensive information. You can find the Haynes on the web if you look hard enough; I'd send ya mine but it's against the rules here. BEFORE YOU FLAME... remember some of us DO live in the projects, and just because I don't have $60 doesn't mean I don't deserve to fix my car

If you can afford the car and the parts for it, you can afford the manual to fix it.

Helm manuals can also be purchased used for less money in the H-T Marketplace and on eBay.

actually this is untrue. if you go to the torrance library you can actually borrow alot of the popular books.

hence.. torrance library is about 5 minutes away from the honda headquarters... the library has those books due to honda donating it to the library.

you can also check any p2p network ive posted all the manual on there aswell...

I checked a Haynes manual out at the library when I was first starting out working on my civic. I was confused as heck about setting the idle speed. First off the instructions were for a manual tranny, I had an auto. Plus, it said "unplug the iac valve" it showed a picture of the throttle body with the MAP and TPS on it also. I was unplugging the map sensor thinking it was the iac! I got a factory manual and discovered with an auto tranny you set the idle speed with the IAC still connected

There were a couple other mistakes in there, but I can't remember what they were. I avoid Haynes now.
