What's up Honda-Tech, I have a 95 Civic with about 282,xxx miles on it. This is my first car and its the ish!



I know, phone pic sucks

So tomorrow I'm changing the oil for the first time. this will be my first time changing the oil for any car and was wondering is there anything to keep in mind, any tips, or any suggestions I'm all ears.

And I'm sure for most of you is like second nature but there are always newbies. so no flaming please.

Tip for changing oil: Dont forget to put the oil drain bolt back in after u completely drain all the oil. Don't forget to install the NEW oil filter BEFORE you put in the new oil. Put in 4 and 1/4 quarts of oil, start the car let it run for a few minutes shut it off and check the oil. If its alittle low, fill it right to the second dot on the dipstick.

forgot to tell him to apply a thin later of oil on the oil filters rubber gasket

make sure you "properly" dispose the old oil. dont forget to put the oil cap back on.

I thought civics took 3.5 qts.

I'm looking into it. Eventually when I'm ready to do so I'm going for a B18c1.

I think it's like 3.9 quarts.

Looks good, you really need to lower it.

Also when removing the old oil filter make sure the old seal comes off. It makes a mess if you dont

That's what my boy keeps telling me. I want to get some rims before I lower it though.

3.9 is a big difference from 4.5 though. anyone care to chip in? our system at O'Reilly Auto Parts says 3.5 qts. I also thought I read 3.5 in my owner's manual a little while back.

suspension > wheels
if you get wheels you ride around like all the little kiddies whos parents buy their stuff and think its too low to lower it more cause they will scrape.
itll look better lower with stock wheels than 4X4 stance with nice wheels

Meh i really dont trust O'reilly, however, i have always put around 3.9 quarts in. And it always gets it to the right spot. But i will check my owners manual in a minute.

Just checked my maual. Your are right, but so am I. DX takes 3.8 qts, HX,EX-takes 3.5qts
