Default heater core replacement project in progress - need advice ASAP please. Pics!

OK, let me start off by saying this project totally sucks ***. Its not that its hard, but its detailed and requires removal of lotsa little crap.

Anyways, I am there 80% of the way. The dash is out.

All I have to do is

A) drain coolant, undo heater valve cable, the two heater feed and return lines by the firewall undo the heater assembly bolt and remove the heater box.

Here is where I need help. The FSM is not too clear on what I need to do next.

I have AC, so do I need to discharge refrigerant and remove the blower motor, then the heater duct (with AC lines) and then remove the heater assembly

OR

Can I do the steps listed in Step A) above and just undo the heater assembly?

In pic 2, the heater assembly is the one in middle and taller, to its right is the heater duct (sandwiched between heater assembly and blower and contains AC evap) and then to the corner by passenger side is the blower assembly....

Please let me know ASAP - I want to get this done tomorrow evening! Thanks!

PS - for others thinking of attempting it, here is everything you need to remove!

You should be able to remove the heater core assy without discharging the AC. I've done this on a 95 Coupe before, and was able to.

Takes some fiddling.

I guess that stuff is called stopleak. HG went out at 130K per previous owner - he said they tried to fix it at first and then pulled the head. This stopleak dogshit is what caused the heater core to clog up seven ways from sunday!
