heater core and a/c control replacement help
Hello. I have a 94 del sol. I my heat doesnt work and a/c controls are a bit messed up. Ive decided to replace them, but I cant find any del sol in the jusk yard. What other cars use the same controller as mine? and how hard is it to replace the heater core? Actually, a better question, where is it?

heater core is above the ece, behind the glove box. look on ebay. or see if an ek or eg climate control box fits. take yours out and make sure its plugged in., and check your fuses.

The EG has it's heater core right smack dab in the center of the car. The evaporator for the AC however is right behind the glove compartment.
The heat on my 4 door didn't work quite right. I had to fiddle with the controls under the dash to open the door or something. There's a white plastic deal with a couple metal rods sticking out and it moves when you adjust the temp on the climate controls.

Well, you may be trying to replace something thats not broken.
Is the water valve opening? If not, is the climate control lever hooked to the wire that runs under the dash on the Pass side? If so, is the OTHER wire running thru the firewall to the valve?
If those ARE there, then check to see why its not opening. If the valve is stuck, that may be all you need to replace. Majestic has one for $33.
Also, why do you want to replace something that could wear out and leak, with a used part? $88 at O'rilies, and you can get a new one.
I'm going to do a DIY on how to replace it, but that will be a couple more weeks before I can get it all done. You have to take out the whole dash, and then remove the climate box, then remove the core from it, and put it all back the same way.
Either way, good luck.
ALSO: its not behind the glove box. thats the A/C Evaporator and Fan.

Re: heater core and a/c control replacement help
Well just becuase its used doesnt mean mean it wont last for a long time, Ive replaced a radiator with a used one before and it works to this day. Well thanks I got my heater working, now to get the a/c blowing cold air. Already tried recharging it. Im just going to let the mechanic do the a/c. I know nothing about car a/cs. Thanks for the help guys. Oh it wasnt the heater core after all. the vent cable was broken. I just re connected it with a little southern engineering. LOL
