hey, this might sound like a stupid question, but i gotta bad heatshield rattle on my exhaust pipe before the cat (96 ex). it rattles around 3 grand. i think the weld on the heat shield is broken. can i just rip the heat shield off and say, cool? or do i gotta get a new one?

yes take it off, i got rid of every heat sheild i could reach....it was my first mod on my car...(sorry i broke the golden rule of first mod being intake or exhaust)

your engine bay will get really hot though...bad news if you happen to have a short ram intake

Take it off, if you have heat problems, look into this.





Just a simple header wrap, many use it.
It does the same thing as a heat shield.
