Default Headliner foam backed fabric replacement

Anyone tried these as the replacement fabric for their headliner?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Auto-Headliner-Upholstery-Fabric-Kit-with-Glue-90-x-60-Sand-Gray-/281137800499?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item41751e6533
All the previous DIY's in H-T seems to use their own fabric which is not foam backed, I like a fabric that is as OEM as possible....

Thinking of taking out my headliner and replacing the 16 year old fabric pretty soon.

It will make the headliner thicker and might pose problems with re-installation.

Should work. Looks almost stock. Isnt the foam that stuff that falls off once you tear the head liner??

I say scrap all the old off and put the new up there. I think people use different fabric to be different.

I've been looking at fabric stores with my wife for fabric to do my head liner, mirrors and doors.

I'm telling you that you might have trouble reinstalling it. I'm speaking from first-hand knowledge. And the old foam stuff is not easily removable.

The problem with my dumbass is that I threw this stuff right on top of the old deteriorating stuff. If you remove the old foam you will be fine. If you do what I did then you might have issues.

thanks grumblemarc! yeah I wouldnt want old foam it would make the new fabric hard to glue on and you would have dimples and valleys once glued on right?

Depends on how bad the old stuff is.

I just redid my headliner yesterday. The old foam backing is easy to remove from the cardboard piece but difficult for the sunroof. I used some black headliner with foam backing i got off a retailer on ebay.

I had previously done the headliner without removing the foam and it held up for about 2-3 days til it started hanging. So make sure you get the foam off!
