Default Headlight Problem

I just got a pair of headlights off eBay, but I bought them separate. Well, one came with everything, the other didn't (by everything I mean the bulbs, retaining clip and rubber piece that holds the bulb in place.) I checked Carquest and got the bulbs but I still need the retaining clip and the rubber piece to hold the main bulb in place. Anybody know where I can get these at? Thanks

im not sure your gonna just be able to go to a store to get these. i would check online first, and if that doesnt work, head over to your local Honda dealer, they should be able to get what you need for you.

I tried looking for you but I don't see that clip anywhere in the diagram (or unless I missed it.) This diagram is for my 92 4 door LX which also uses those retaining clips. Good luck

The clip goes right between 10 and 4 and connects 10 to the headlight housing.

Found the rubber piece on Majestic Honda but they don't have the metal retaining clip.

I tried that. The old headlights are Halos that the guy got off eBay I think. They have a clip similar to the one I need but it's not big enough.

That rubber piece that you're looking for doesn't hold the bulb in place, the clip does, the rubber piece just keeps water out of the headlight assembly.

Your best bet is gonna be the junk yard...

Yeah I kinda figured that but that was the best way I could describe it. Thanks.

What's everyone's take on just not using the retaining clip? Think it'd be safe?

You're gonna need the clip, you could temporarily duct tape it in there until you get the clips, not speaking from experience or anything ....

Do they have to order the clip or can I just go pick it up?

Not too many junkyards around here. If I would go to a junkyard I would probably have to go 60 miles to the nearest one that would have a '96-'00 Civic, and the nearest Honda dealer is in that same town so I might as well just go to the dealership. I don't know, just seems easier to pay a couple bucks and order from the dealership then to go searching through junkyards, don't ya think?

These are the stock headlights, I got them used off eBay and the guy said they didn't come with the bulbs, he didn't say anything else was missing.

Thanks man. My parents are going down to Rapid City (town with the nearest Honda dealer) this weekend so I might have to go with 'em and see what I can find.

Ummm why not just use a coat hanger or something of a similar gauge to the other clip and bend up your own?

If going to a junk yard and ordering it from the dealer are a no go. It's ghetto but it would probably work fine until you got something better.
