Default Header stud question

Ok i just got my whole new exhaust line, and i have everything i need to put it on. but here is the thing. My girlfriend and her dad are saying i shouldn't do this alone...like i should either get it done professionally or with "johns" help(one of their friends. John works on cars and Her dad was a mechanic for xxx number of years.
They are saying the reason i should not do it, is because im going to crack a stud and then have to drill and tap the engine. I have read lots of people say they did it with no problems. and i don't think i will have one. if i use enough WD 40 it should work and i shouldn't have to worry about it will i?

i have a 97 civic ex manual tranny. it has 160k on it. the bolts dont look mega rusted or anything. so i feel confident that i can do it myself but 3 other people say i shouldn't.
and just for reference, can i have the Tq of the header bolts and the order? cant find it anywhere and cant find a DIY for headers.

any more info just ask

u def can do this urself, but it would help to have an extra set of hands around to line things up. as long as there not ur gf or her dad bitchin...

hey thanks thats what i thought. and its not like im mechanically retarded i know how to use a wrench and i am a hands on person. id rater do it then watch it get done so thanks. and thanks for the DIY.

anyone have the Tq bolt numbers for the studs on the engine block that hold the header?

Ok to start torque for those nuts are 23 ftlbs, and the tightening sequence is starting with inner and crisscross your way out. You should tighten down the bolts in 2-3 steps. Obviously, meaning tighten bolts to 10, then 17, then 23.
As for making sure not to break something, I would go to any parts store and buy a can of PB Blaster. Spray down any and all bolts or nuts you need to remove. Let that soak for at least a full day and then do your project. Also, you should try and remove the exhaust manifold why the engine is warm, not cold, but be careful not to burn yourself.

Dont listen to those people ever again. These are hondas. they are meant to be worked on by the owners. They wouldn't be as much fun otherwise. the header is probably one of the less risky things you can do also. JUST DO IT.

Header is about as basic as it gets when it comes to replacing stuff...Tell your g/f's dad to kick rocks! Its your ride bro, not thier family car.

Break a stud off? They got to be shittin me. I wouldn't listen to your G/F or her Dad anymore.

The header is no problem, only thing thats a bitch sometimes is like someone else said, sometimest he bolts get hot and sieze up. I'd recommend getting some Anti-sieze. You can put this on the threads and it will help you next time you have to take it off for whatever reason.

But you can diffently do that yourself, I installed my header and catback by myself.
