Default Header question

I am confused because a 4-1 header is good for high rpm's but how high are we talking cuz I am gonna be getting a b18b motor and it redlines at 7 instead of 8,200 like the gsr. So is this a good header to get for the b18b or would I be happier with 4-2-1. Cuz if it only helps from like 6 and up then it would not be worth it really to me, so I guess the real question is what would be better for the track for my b18b 4-1 or 4-2-1.

...i would think a 4-2-1 on a b18b because 4-2-1 are more for torque then high-end such as 4-1 headers....that's what i was known to believe...correct me if im wrong....

Any body else have some input. I have heard so many different things. I was thinking 4-1 would be better because it adds in the upper rpm range and that is where the b18b motor falls off. It has good low end and mid power but could use the extra help in the higher range. But only if it starts around 5000 rpm's because any later and you are not really getting the full potential of the header. Where as 4-2-1 is good mid power so you would get full potential but not really where it is needed. So WTF is better God damnit.

i think u should go with the 4-1 headers for your b18b since the b18b already has good torque but not a good of a top end, rather just go with some mid-to top end headers 4-1.

I recommend the 4-2-1, which you will much more of the power gain. Where do you spend the majority of your time in your powerband? You are not using the upper end of your powerband day in, day out. You will get much more use of the added power in the midrange. The B18 has a pretty good midrange, so why not take advantage of it. You will be much happier with the 4-2-1 for your application. I would recommend a 4-1 for someone running a built vtec up to 8k rpms or more. That is who would really take advantage of a 4-1 design.

Some 4-1's are just as good for midrange as the 4-2-1's, if not better. I'd still recommend a good smooth 4-2-1 simply due to the ease of working under your car and not having to drop the whole header out. Also most 4-2-1's won't drop as low as the 4-1's, so that might save you some scratches. I'd say if you have a very specific goal with your car, to acheive highest possible horsepower then go with a good 4-1, otherwise go for the tri-y.
