Header for GSR in EK?
Ok, I'm gonna swap in a JDM GSR in to my 98 civic, and I wanna know what header will bolt onto the GSR head and ek exhaust. I know the JDM ITR header and replicas come with 2.5" collectors which means I have to modify it. I can't use the GSR header because its too short. I wanna get a header that will fit without modifying it. AND YES I did do a search. I every post I read says, " Yes X header will fit but you have to do this or that". So basically what i'm looking for is a header that will fit a GSR or TYPE R head and goes into a 2" collector. Can I use a LS aftermarket header? Is it the same length as a B16 or ITR, or is it short like a GSR?

The LS, B16, ITR and '00-'01 GS-R manifolds are all the same length, and are not shorter like the '94-'99 GS-R. They also all feature 2" collectors, though the angle of the collector flange differs on the B16. Which one (if either) will bolt directly to your stock Civic cat without modification, I am unfortunately not certain of.

It will be the same length as a B16 or ITR header (which is what you asked), though as I stated, I'm not certain whether that is the correct length to bolt to the rest of your exhaust.

On the stock manifolds, yes. Some aftermarket header manufactures may use different tubing diameters for the VTEC and non-VTEC engines, but in many cases they're the same.

If your EK is anything but an EX, you will not be bolting straight up period. CX, DX, and LX all have the converter mounted to the exhaust manifold so there is no cat underneath. The exhaust pipe comes up about 3" short of bolting up to a header/exhuast mani.

I have a 98 lx with a JDM 2nd gen b16a in it. And i got a dc 4-2-1 header on there
and it fits fine. So if the 97-01 GSR and 94-01 ls headers are the same lenght as the b16 like padawan said then I should be fine.

Re: Header for GSR in EK? (hondadriver)
OK, well my b16a sold on ebay last week, so saturday I drove up to torontojdm.com, and bought a OBD2 JDM GSR longblock (head stamp reads 96), which had an auto tranny on it that they had to remove. Anyway, before I shipped my b16a out I wanted to see if my DC sports 4-2-1 header off my b16a would clear the oil pan. So i proceed to remove the GSR exhaust manifold, when i compared the 2 the collector length was the same and the flange lined up the same. I thought WTF! So i intalled the DC Sports header and it clears the oil pan fine, theres like 1/4-1/2 inch clearence. I reinstalled the GSR manifold and it was the same. Now heres the ****** problem. Before I sold my b16a I did a TON, of searching on H-T, as far as ecu, IM, header, etc, etc. Just to make sure I have no suprises. And all I found and was told was that the 94-99 GSR header collector is too short. i even saw a picture that compared all the b-series headers and the gsr one looked short. Also, the flange was not suppose to line up. So why is mine, different, why does it fit perfect? Is it because, its a OBD2 engine, or is it cause its off a Automatic vehicle?? I was thinking of getting the 00-01 gsr header and just adjusting the flange, but since the b16a one fits, thats what i'm going with.

Well, are you sure the header you had was truly a B16 header? A lot of people just group the B series stuff. Sometimes you order or a gSR and get a B16 header that rubs the oil pan (like the one I have right now....) and sometimes you order a B16 header and you get the one that is for the taller deck of the LS/GSR, etc, and it hangs low. I"d say the header you have is actually for an LS or GSR, not a B16. I know that my B16 header is definitely longer and it definitely rests on the oil pan....
