Default header and exhaust

hi guys i own an Ej1 and its basically stock except for my full coils and intake...
i was wondering if 4-1 DC header and n1 style no brand exhaust 2.5 will do good on my car?
will it make a crappy fart can noise?(this is what i am concern abt the most, coz i want deep sound...)

Let me knw thx!

I'd suggest 2.25 for a piping size unless your motor has work done to it

I would stay away from any "Canister" style mufflers. Which is what the N1 is. Do yourself a favor and get something like an Apexi WS2 or something, its quiet but still not as restrictive as stock. Not to mention it looks A LOT better than a Canister muffler. Or go to a shop that has mandrel benders and get an exhaust made up for your car and weld a black Vibrant muffler to the end.

I had a "real" Apexi N1 on my EJ1 for roughly 6 years. It started out ok, sounded pretty nice to me(at the time anyways, I was 19). It got louder, and louder and the back of the muffler rusted out 3 times and I had to have a friend of mine re-weld it, and the NC winters aren't that bad. The actual piping from the cat to the canister has been fine but that muffler just gave problems, the back of the muffler is really thin metal. For the last 2 years I had it on the car I had the silencer back in it because it had gotten really loud and raspy..in other words it sounded like ***. Or maybe I just got older and wanted something quieter. Just a few weeks ago I had the apexi N1 canister muffler cut off and a black Vibrant muffler welded in its place.

So for my conclusion I say stay away from canisters. That's just my opinion.

boxeocampeon
wht do u think of the no brand n1 style?
i mean i heard hella good reviews for it...
like it sounded deep and it doesn't make nast fart can noise...
well all i have so far is like intake, and spark plug thats it, but im planning to get new rims, fog, the exhaust plan that i have and maybe visors and mud flaps...but i can never find mud flaps...
maybe i should post up my pic so ppl can comment it? its pretty stock cept for the HID, mugen style lip, coils, intake and smoked amber...

I have DC 4-2-1 header > OEM replacement cat > and a BBP catback which is a no name N1 style muffler. It's only raspy from 5k-6k, but I will be replacing it with either an Apexi WS2 or a OBX twin loop, mainly because it's way to loud for my liking.

If it were an actual nice header then I would say it being welded plus 50$ could be worth it. But its a DC Sports you said which IMO is no better performance wise than a cheap S.S header you will find on Ebay. The DCs might fit better in some cases and have better gaskets but there just a mass produced Header that is way overpriced when they are new IMO.

What engine are you running anyways?

Where is the crack in this header your looking at buying?

I have ran one DC Sports 4-2-1(I got used cheap) header and one cheap $80 new s.s ebay 4-2-1 header and there was no difference between one and the other to me.

I wanted the same for mine, I found that the Vibrant oval flat black muffler was perfect! My friend wanted his quiter so he put in a vibrant resonator. My car has 2.5 inch piping and no Cat and Highend Tri-y header and isnt very loud!

doesn't the resonator restrict air flow so u lose power? if i have a second chance to buy another exhaust system i would have gone with WS2. As u get older u will prefer quiet and clean...i think i speak on behalf of many HT memebers

In my opinion ALL canister mufflers sound awful when they are at the end of the exhaust stream... I would also go with an Apexi WS2 cat-back setup, if its not loud enough for you take the muffler off and have straight pipe welded in its place, it sounds good...

A resonator is not going to have any noticeable effect other than noise reduction...

The DC header will definitely give you gains but don't expect a whole lot...

I agree...the older I get the less noise I want and the more stock I want the car to feel again. I am getting ready to swap my stiff engine mounts out for stockers to get rid of the vibrations.

ebay cat back is ebay cat back. lol. i've used them several times, and sometimes they sound great, sometimes they sound worse. its a canister style exhaust, and basically they all make the same annoying drone like sounds. some deeper than others, some not so deep. if you really like the n1 style, but can't afford the real deal, get a tsudo n1 muffler with 2.5" piping. http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...All-Categories youtube has some sound clips on the tsudo, it actually sounds pretty good. so does bbp, i had that on my accord. i also used tenrai on my ef hatch. and it sounded ok in the lower rpms, but sorta raspy up top.

What's the diameter of the BBP catback anyway? I might buy it just for the piping.

4-1 will kill low end power and 2.5" is too big unless you're turbo or heavily modified.

For me, 2.5" is on the small size. K-series. So, is the BBP 2.5" then? Might buy one off the ebay and sell the axle back.
