Is this head shot!!?? Pics inside
I was wondering what you guys thought of this head and if its shot or not, i guess one of the pistons somehow went over the height of the block deck and chamfered off a little bit of the head, like on the edge of the combustion chamber. I think a rod bearing may have went out or something, the engine was over revved... Anyways.. The pictures are here take a look... the shinny part in the first picture is the chamfered part.. Thanks!

too blurry to tell... but from the sounds of it... that will change your compression ratio and probably give you headgasket problems later on... if your piston went up that high then somethings really wrong... if a bearing went out youd have way more problems and it would have been noisy as hell... i dont think theres anything you can do to fix that chamfer... youd most likely have to replace the head...
whats the condition of the block? and the piston? no valves got hit when the piston went up that high? how bad was it overreved?

Yer pic taking skills suck.
I hope you're rebuilding that engine's bottom end with the piston having smacked a solid chunk of aluminum and all.

if he's lucky that's all.

From the looks of it, he's doing something to the head. Valves and springs are out.

yeah the pics do suck ill get some better ones... i havent bothered to look at the bolck yet.. i got the bolck and head from a friend for cheap because he needed them out of his garage. so the block isnt in my car or anything. i agree that it will mess up my comp. ratio. so should i just get a new head? and scrap this one out? Ill get some pics in the next few hours. im just trying to clean up the head and see if its good for a minime for the time being... nothing special though.

Though we are usually rather helpful on this website, no one short of a machine shop will be able to tell you just how bad your problem is. Perhaps they can fix it, perhaps it's toasted. We can't tell you. They can. Make some calls.

you're gonna need a new head
theres no way they can fix that... you cant mill the head that much to get rid of that chamfer...
you can still try but afaik that cant be fixed...
the piston diameter is smaller than the edge of that combustion chamber... for the piston to make a ring around it like that, there had to be all kinds of piston slapping going on and the diameter of the cylinder might have been too big for the piston...
on top of that if the piston was hitting it, you can be sure that something is not straight... that head is probably twisted or warped... the camshaft might have runout too... get a dial indicator and measure it... it should be no more than 0.001" preferably as close to 0.000" as possible...

kinda looks like there was some head lift there and the piston....well....you can pretty much guess what happened to let it rise that far. if that was stock, just buy another engine.
