Default Head removal b16a2

Ok, I have to remove the head on my 99 Si with a stock b16a2.

The valve cover is already removed. I marked the teeth on the timing belt with the spot that it sits in on the cam gears. Can i slide off the T Belt and keep tension on it to remove the head instead of completely removing the t belt? Then i can remove the cams and get to the head bolts.

I have a Helm, and i was going to just remove the entire T Belt, but i can't get off the lower t belt cover?! One bolt left, but it bangs into the crankshaft pulley!!!

Thanks

Just loosen the tensioner. It will make it much easier to reinstall the timing belt. HTH

thanks guys.

The tension is behind the lower t belt cover.... From what i understand there are three bolts that hold the cover on. I got 2 of them off, but the third starts to come off, but then it BANGS right into the crank pulley. WTF do i do? I was thinkin about just cutting around the plastic and letting it slide out?

You don't have to take that cover off. There is a little plug that you can pull off to access the tensioner bolt. Good luck.
