head opinions
hi all, i was thinking of buying an ek with a gsr swap. the block is lightly built too, but whats more imporant is the head. the ek comes with a b16 head, here are the given specs
- Milled .020, ported and polished
- Supertech valves, 3 angle valve job
- Dual valve springs
- TI Retainers
- Skunk 2 st.2 cams
- SRR cam gears
- ARP head studs
- AEM fuel rail
- Blox IM
I had bought a built gsr head recently for a different build which fell through which had the following specs
- Milled 0.020, ported and polished
- Toda Spec B cams
- Skunk2 cam gears
- Toda valvetrain, dual valvesprings and retainers with stock valves
- BDL fuel rail
- Type R Intake manifold (modded to fit gsr head)
Just looking to get some opinions on which head would be better all together or would it be worth it to frankenstein it from both heads. open to opinions. Also, the ek comes with 440s but that might be overkill for NA? i also have a set of 330s, what do you guys think?

Re: (Jakester9500)
the gsr will make more power right off the bat because it has a smaller combustion chamber that will inturn bump up your compression ratio.
gsr head=higher compression over b16 head.
gsr head=higher compression over b16 head.

ok cool, so prob just put the gsr head on as it sits and then and sell the built b16? what about the injectors? 440s or 330s for an NA build?

well, for now im just going to leave it as is with the IM/Cams/springs&retainers/p&p. it would be going on a 81.5mm gsr block with 12:1 pistons, arp rod bolts, and acl bearings

Re: (grg3135)
its up to u man. if u plan on building the head and porting it u know its gonna cost alot of money. u might be better off just using the b16 head being that its already built. u know?

the gsr head is ported and polished as well, actually the only thing "less built" on the gsr head is the stock valves, but still has toda springs and retainers
