Default Head lights keep blowing out

Ok, here's the deal. I have a 98 DX coupe. I have the sylvania silver star headlight bulbs. Problem is, they keep blowing out on me every few months, and it's not cheap to keep replacing them. I was told I shoudl get at least a year out of them. Anyone got any ideas as to what the heck could be wrong?

I guess the first and most obvious question is are you shorting any wires that power the head lights?

ive had those and they were out in about 3 months. i was told not to touch the bulb itself with your hands because they have "destructive oils" which in turn could cause the bulbs to burn out faster.

Tell ya the truth, I have no idea if i'm shorting any wires but i haven't really messed with that so I don't think I messed anything up there. Also, I don't touch the bulb with my hands cause I was told the same thing about the destructive oils on my hands. Can anyone suggest which bulbs would be the most quality for my car at the most efficient price?

Best bulbs for the price that I've found. GE 9003sb. Theyre cheapy GE brand at wal mart which are VERY white light and have lasted me over a year for 15 bucks. Just my .02 and I've had silverstars, and PIAA plasmas as well as my stockers.

EDIT: The oils in your hand sticks to the bulbs, causing hot spots which cause the housings to overheat and explode, so that's why your not supossed to touch with your hand. If you do, just clean them with some alcohol on a q-tip.

ive owned them before and i believe the life expectancy is so short because they are burning so hot...mine lasted for about 7 month...now i bought sylvannia cool blue headlights...they are bright also, and not blue like it sounds..pretty good for like 12 bucks at walmart

Well, I went to wal-mart and bought the GE headlights. If those don't work, I'll try the Sylvania Blues. Thank you all for your insight!

If it keeps blowing out and your not touching the bulb then you might have to get a new harness.

I'm liking the bulbs. They're not bad at all, especially for the price. Not as bright as the Silver Stars, but also not nearly as expensive. What I really want is a HID conversion kit for my civic. Anyone know of any good deals on those? Also, if I did have to get a new harness, would it be hard to replace by myself?

Harness aren't hard at all to replace. They actually just plug in play
