Re: HEAD BOLT TORQUE SPECS ON D15B7 (JoeD427)
The Haynes manual says to lubricate the threads and seats of the cylinder head bolts with clean engine oil then they must be tightened in a specific sequence in 2 stages. First tighten them all to 22 Ft-lbs, then finish them all at 49 Ft-lbs for the D15B7 and the D15B8. The D15Z1 and D15Z6 should be finished off at 53 Ft-lbs.
There is a certain order to tighten them as well. There are 10 bolts and if you are standing in frony off the car looking towards the engine the bolts on the back of the head are numbered from passenger to driver side, 8 6 2 4 10. The bolts toward the front of the engine are numbered 9 3 1 5 7. Make sure to tighten them in that order. The Haynes book only costs about 10 or 15 bucks at Autozone.
