I have an old set of 96 headlights that are pretty foggy / hazy. I baked them to seperate the housings.

Dispite using a few cleaners, the haze is still there. It looks like the haze is a mildew like substance. I havent seen something like this before, but then again these were in a garage box for a year or so.

Any ideas on how to clean them?

use 3m perfect-it rubbing compound, mine are crystal clear now

wet sand trick.

use 2000 grit sandpaper and wet sand them.

soak a few sheets of the sandpaper in car washing soapy water for like 15 min. then keep the surface very wet and sand back and forth for like 20 minutes keeping the paper and surface very wet with the carwash water.

then dry them and buff. it will be good as new, i have done this many times with many cars and it works all the time

is 2000 really need? 1600 is like the same thing. Just seems high, but i'll give it a shot.

any kind of good rubbing compound from the auto parts store should do the trick

yeah ive done both wetsanding and rubbing compound and the rubbing compound worked better, just use rubbing compound, polishing compound, then cover them things in wax

when i had my old headlights I was told to try Blue Magic compound (I hear its actually for motorcycles...but I dont see how its specified)
I didnt ever get a chance to use it before I got my sir's though...

I'll give those a shot, I actually got those suggestions when I ran a search. But the cause was something different.
This actually looks like mildew on the headlight housing.
But i'll try those first.
And boosted, the idea is to save a few bucks to sped on the engine.
