Default having problems removing driver airbag...need help

i'm trying to remove the driver side airbag out of my ek. So far i managed to stripped the star screw on the sides. They're not budging. there is some of the screw left to grab on, but i don't want to try again until i have a game plan. anyone have any ideas, or easy way to get it off. .

Squirt some pb blaster on it and letr it sit, tap it with a hammer, let it soak. Make sure you are using the right size bit.

You need a T30 bit.

If you can still get a grip with the bit, you may be able to get it loose by turning it the way you would tighten it first. NOT TO FAR THOUGH, just a little tug in the opposite direction to break it loose. I tend to have good luck using that method on bolts/nuts that are in dry places that have to be torqued tight.

I had this problem the other day. Stripped out the bolt b/c I tried using a t27, broke my t30. Ended up using and Bolt out socket type thing sold at sears. Tapped it a little with hammer it it came right out.

Good to know in case the threads are too stripped to work with.

you can use a stripped screw remover. most auto part stores sell bolt removers.

To use them you drill a little, Take a hammer tap in the bolt remover and you can use a drill to pull it out (or a cresent wrench to turn it)
