Re: having a problem with the speedometer
more than likely you are going to have to replace them. and i would check all pins because in some cases its just a pin or 2 that are out. so check all of them and write them down in order. and see if any of them have a major difference than the rest.
but i would just replace it

Re: having a problem with the speedometer
well the speedometer gives an electric signal to your speedometer which makes it move.
OR maybe your speedometer just isnt working properly. if thats the case just buy a new cluster or just the speedometer part

Re: having a problem with the speedometer
it may be the speed sensor then because it marks fine at 70mph but not on low speeds

Re: having a problem with the speedometer
On these, it seems to be somewhat common for the pins to corrode, causing jumping speedo and eventual failure. If you're pulling yours to inspect it, make sure all 3 pins are on the sensor, and that all 3 holes are good in the harness plug. On mine, I had the middle pin rust out, and then it got stuck in the plug when I pulled it out to inspect it. Had to replace the VSS AND solder a new plug onto the end.
I was a little surprised because I keep my engine bay frikkin CLEAN, but I think maybe it was caused by all the cleaning I do in there... some water got in the plug and killed it.

Re: having a problem with the speedometer
I have a mini d16 swap with a p28 computer. My speedometer jumps around, sometimes it's fine and other times it reads 0. (Been doing this since before the swap) I have replaced the vss and the gage cluster, any other suggestions?
