Default having a little trouble with my civic..

i have a 97 civic dx coupe and i want to keep my d16y7 engine. the only problem is i cant find many parts for it. the only thing i have for it now is a cold air intake that hasnt come in yet. are there any other bolt ons that i could get? i appreciate the help. and another thing. would it matter alot if i kept my automatic? or do i HAVE to switch to manual? as far as i know automatics redline better dont they?

Aside from it being your daily driver, what kind of driving do you want to do with it? Autocross? Occasional dragstrip? How much do you want to spend?

you can get a d16y8 intake manifold, so the throttle body sits horizontal, and you will have a bigger plenum tank. From there, you could even go and get a y8 head for VTEC and more flow. Then I would highly recommend getting a z6 or y8 tranny. A new tranny will help out a ton for better acceleration. After all that, you can get a decent header, and exhaust. When you get tired of that, you can get a nice agressive cam to help you out.

Then when you get tired of all of that, you can piece together a nice home made turbo kit for about $1000-$1500 and be sittin pretty. Good luck with the y7, I know people in the 11's with that motor and still retain the stock head.

i drag as much as i can. but it doesnt really do too much. im trying to see what needs improvement mostly. i just want minor upgrades now and i'll do major engine work when i get a little more cought up on cash. i just want to do somthing that doesnt have to do with a b,h, or k series because everyone has one and i know a single cam d series can woop some twim cams out there.
again, thanx for the help.

A cam and tuning will get you a good increase in power.

As for converting to manual, it will really help a lot. If it's your daily driver, I'd leave it auto, but if you have another car, do the conversion.
