Having idling problem with my B18C1 Engine
What's up everyone!
I have a 2000 Honda civic SI and I just recently upgraded my B16 to a B18, but since then I have had very bad idling problems ranging from 1000 to 3000 rpm's. Can anyone help me out on this? |

Is the CEL ON?
Have you checked for vacuum/intake air leak or cleaned the IACV? Is the throttle cable adjusted too tightly? |

Sorry for sounding like a newb, but what's the CEL? The Iacv is clean, however I think it may have something to do with my cable because my pedal sticks a little bit when I drive.

check for vacuum leaks as Ron stated. Make sure there are no open ports on the manifold, I had a bad dile problem and there was a open line on the back side of my IM. As soon as it was plugged, BAM idle was perfect. And yea your throttle cable should seem awefully loose. Too tight can cause a leak.

CEL = check engine light
Click here for more details. The throttle cable should have 3/8" to 1/2" of free play. |

Sometimes my engine light comes on, but then I when I take it to the shop my friends shop he sprays brake cleaner to check for leaks and the idling stops, but only for a couple of hours.

if your pedal is sticking and your cable is at the right tension, then check the stopper on your throttle body, it may be screwed up too high...
