Having a hard time removing pass. airbag - 96 civic
Anyone removed a passenger side airbag out of a 96 civic before?
Well, I took out the glove compartment, and removed the 3 bolts under the airbag..now what? I've gotten the airbag device loose, but I cant seem to pry it out from the top. Do I need to disconnect the airbag cover from the bag or do they stay connected?
any tips/tricks on how to remove it? thanks...
for anyone wondering: this is a parts car and I've sold the airbags to a local buyer.

Your having a hard time prying it out from the top, because it snaps into place in the dash itself kind of like the male end of a plug connector. It will go in easily because its angeled to do so, but backing it out, it gets caught up on the lip.
It's kind of like this if this makes sense:
_____ (Passenger airbag)
_|||||_ <_________ Lip preventing it from backing out.
\____/
If you give it enough force, it should pop out. I hope I didn't just confuse the hell out of you
When I took mine out, I had the whole dash out which made it a little easier.

gotcha, thanks!
i also varied my terms to broaden the search and found some other helpful answers. Looks like we'll be pulling the dash as we're parting this car out anyways

I'd take the airbag out before pulling the dash. It gives you something to pry against. If you take the airbag out with the dash it can be a real pain to get out later. (unless you don't mind ruining the dash)
Take the glove box out and pry against the support brace.
