Default Have questions about JDM B18C.

Have a couple questions here. First off I have a JDM B18. I noticed something was wrong here with the Vtec.
Red: Vtec Sensor
Yellow: Vtec Solinoid

See, there is no sensor there. On my buddies GSR there is a Green sensor going into a Green plug. No where on my motor though. Are the JDM B18 Vtec any different? Maybe I am missing something. I will be using my EJ8 harness.

Another question has to do with the mounts. I have ordered these mouts and am a little confused.
From http://www.full-race.com/catal...8e6e8
Which does say for B-Series Motors. Question is do I use the original D16Y8 brackets for all the mounts? Even the rear mount. If I am not being clear please let me know.

Thanks.

All copied from my post in the Integra Thread. Thought you guys might now best with my bracket/mount situation.

The mounts that are on your frame you replace with the Hasports. The mounts on the motor/trans you keep on the motor/trans.

You will have to use the brackets off a VTEC Integra, or Civic Si 99-00 and use the mounts you ordered

and jdm engines dont have the vtec spool valve sensor so its all gravy if u have a jdm ecu, but, if not go get a usdm vtec solenoid sppol valve sensor from any solenoid

Im guessing this is going into a 96-00 civic?

If so, you have to use the rear bracket from an EM1 (99-00 Si). The GSR one wont work.

You will need B series brackets as well. Integra Driver/passenger side brackets should work. Just the rear T bracket needs to be from an EM1.

I just bought a JDM b18c about a month ago, and I also didn't have the vtec oil pressure switch. I did a search here on HT, and found out that you can just splice the vtec oil pressure sensor wire into the vtec solenoid wire. Just do a search and you'll find a bunch of posts about it. OR if ur **** about short cutting things like me, just do what I did, go to pep boys buy the 10 * 1.25mm drill and tap set and tab in a new thread into the blank spot where it would be. It VERY EASY, the solenoid is aluminum so it'll cut rigth through. Then you can go to a junkyard and get the vtec oil pressure sensor off a civic ex or call HAPrecycling. If you decide to tab it, you'll need a vice to put it in, but I didn't put the solenoid into the vice by itself, I screwed it down to a piece of 2 by 4 then put it into the vice.

im confused... as far as i know

the bracketry on the mody of the car stays where it is...

but since you have a B-series engine,. you need b- series mounts (which you ordered)

now all you have to do is install your engine and bolt in the mounts to where they are suppost to go..

i put a B-series engine in a CX, and it littereally just droped in and we used the OEM b-series mounts. no fancy expensive hasport stuff. the difference afaik for the mounts is the bolt pattern to the block. they still get positioned in the same place on the body

Nope,no Integra brackets or mounts will ever work on a 96-00 Civic, you need 99-00 Si T bracket and the cast iron bracket by the cam gears also from a 99-00 Si. By the way you didn't need to purchase those Hasport mounts, but they look nice. When you do a B swap in a EK you gotta change brackets not "mounts" like everyone calls it

info on this swap has been beaten to death on this forum....

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1959815

from the sticky at the top of this forum about cutting down on repeated questions- http://kosmo.homedns.org/trey/6gen/

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=558245

also, what ecu are you going to use? keep in mind that the jdm engine does not have a couple things that a usdm ecu would look for- specifically a vtec pressure sensor and ckf. about the ckf issue, http://technet.ff-squad.com/ckftrick.htm

if your driver's side ek mount is in good shape, you can use it w/o converting to a hasport style side to side unit but it is susceptible to breakage if you are abusing the setup or putting down alot of power. what i suggest is adding an engine damper in that region to help it, like this-

What number is the driver side bracket? 4?

I also looked at that one too. I thought that part was supposed to be on the engine not the bay.

im confused are you calling the brackets the part of the mounts that are welded to the body, or are you saying the actual rubber mounted pieces you can take with your hands?

no the mounts are the rubber filled pieces you don't need to change those the Brackets are the ones that are bolted to the engine and slip over the rubber filled mounts.
